Trim Kits are a great solution if your duct is larger or smaller than our four vent sizes: 4x10, 4x12, 6x10, and 6x12.
If you see your duct size in our list of Trim Kit sizes, 12x12, 10x10, 8x14, 8x12, 8x10, 6x14, and 4x14, then you're in luck! Trim Kits work great in whichever style of duct you have, though the performance will vary slightly depending on its opening.
If your duct has a circular cutout like the one pictured below, you won't see any extra airflow restriction.
If however your air duct is fully open like the one pictured below, adding a Trim Kit will impede a small amount of its airflow as it funnels it toward the smaller vent opening. This shouldn't prove to noticeably change the pressure or your room temperature, and may even work in your favor if your goal is to limit the room's airflow.
