The Ecovent vents are constantly reporting the pressure behind the vent to the control hub in real time.

The vents are battery operated and communicate wirelessly with our control hub through a custom low powered protocol on 915 MHz. The design is both very low power and low bandwidth, which means we get great range and use very little power to do so. If for whatever reason, the vent losses communication with the control hub, then vent will default to the open position.

If the vent runs out of battery, then the vent will also default to the open position and the user will get a notification of this in the Ecovent app.
